Mom Moments | Early Start – Late End
Thank you God for pouring into my heart today! because….The enemy was after me TODAY! Oooohhhhh man! Like darts flying everywhere in every aspect of the day. Still, our Father’s goodness was very present. I can’t complain! I will NOT complain.
Buuuuuut I’ll try to paint a visual picture without giving too many (WHY LEAVE OUT THE JUICY DETAILS? THAT’S AN EXPLANATION FOR ANOTHER TIME!).
It was another beautiful NEW DAY and God woke me up at 6am spending time with God! I had quiet (UNINTERRUPTED) time with God, drank water, coffee, exercised, showered, did my hair and my eye make up (because that is just my “thing”!)….I had a feeling of spiritual awareness and God was brining something new into my mind, something He says I can do even though there will be challenges. I was floating in the bubble of God’s love!
…by 4:30pm, I had completely ruined dinner in the midst of numerous “things that happen when you stay at home with 3 kids – and don’t forget the extra credit enemy attacks…that was it…the final straw had me standing by my washing machine (to hide from my children whom I love so much!) praying (okay…my prayer was more like a cross between a hormonal teenager and a mature adult desperately asking God to help me with patience while holding back the tears welling up in my eyes) when all of a sudden I saw an ANT on my arm!!!! Soooo instead of letting the waterworks of frustrated tears come out I slapped my arm and started laughing and thanking God for snapping me out of whatever this is that’s going on!!! It’s like He was telling me, CHILD OF MINE, GET IT TOGETHER – KEEP GOING! ALL THINGS WORK TOGETHER FOR GOOD! ALL THINGS!
…..THEN THE LIGHT HAPPENED….GOD’S WAY OF ENCOURAGING ME to keep going. (My mom came over – I had told her we weren’t coming over because it had been a rough day and I felt we should stay home (this was before the washing machine desperation prayer). BUT GOD had other plans.
The funny part is I told the kids we could still go if they could give me time to clean up because I can’t punish them for the enemy’s attacks. It’s not their fault. I finished cleaning up and then my mom showed up (SURPRISE!). The day started to get better and better after that! I took the older 2 kids on a walk with me and she took my youngest home with her to wait for us. For some reason I was so low on energy (and so hungry because I ruined dinner and I knew the kids’ snack would be wearing off soon) buuuut my mom got my son a new bike (MUCH NEEDED! BLESS HER HEART! I’M SO THANKFUL FOR MY MOM!). Before we knew it we found ourselves putting this awesome bike together and it really made my son’s day! Everyone helped…even my 3 year old lol. By the time we got back home it was 8:30pm – sooooo much for an early bedtime. The kids had ICE CREAM for dinner because once or twice a year whenever I am just having “one of those days” I let them have ICE CREAM for dinner. It’s one of those things I started doing about 5 years ago when I read it on a blog….I’M LIKE….ooooooh! So it is actually okay to do that sometimes??? Yesss! WELL THIS WAS ONE OF THOSE DAYS! Then my husband called and he said, “Give them a Pop Tart or something….” Thanks husband! Sooo they had a Pop Tart too.
When I got the kids to bed I remembered I had to get the sheets from the dryer and put them on the bed so I can sleep too! Once I got the sheets on the bed and I SAW A SMALL SPIDER! What do I do? I get it off and start laughing because I mean….why not? It was like the icing on the cake of this entire day! When I finally went to bed around 11:20 after eating 2 cheese sticks and a greek yogurt …and…I WAS OUT. I don’t even remember what I was praying about before I drifted off to sleep kind of out. I probably said something along the lines of ….Thank you Lord for this wonderful…daaa……..ZZZZZzzzzzz………
Moral of this story: The enemy attacked on so many levels yesterday but at the end of it all…..THERE WAS A PEACE THAT KEPT ME GOING without COMPLETELY SNAPPING. THE PEACE OF GOD THAT MOVES ME AND DRIVES ME AND NEVER LEAVES ME. THE KIND OF PEACE THAT CALMS ME DOWN WHEN I WANT TO YELL AT THE KIDS AND INSTEAD HELPS ME SMILE OR TALK S-L-O-W-L-Y. WHEN THINGS HIT THE CEILING, HE HAD ALREADY WORKED OUT A LIGHT IN THE TUNNEL TO ENCOURAGE ME TO KEEP GOING! THE BATTLE IS ALWAYS WON WITH THE LORD! ALWAYS!
